Maryam Sedaghatpour

Ph.D. Candidate
NSF Graduate Research Fellow

I completed my bachelors degree at George Mason University in the Washington DC area where I was mostly guided by Dr. Andrea Weeks through research projects.

Now, I am broadly interested in the origin, evolution, and conservation of the Eastern Mediterranean flora, a vastly understudied biodiversity hotspot. I aim to gain insight into the roles of migration and in situ diversification in the region within a biogeographic framework and utilize spatial phylogenetic methods to identify discrete localities of conservation importance.
